CBF ‘to pause’ Brazilian football during 2027 Women’s World Cup | OneFootball

The Brazilian Football Confederation will implement a compulsory mid-season pause to align with the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

According to GE, the CBF notified clubs on Tuesday, 4 August via formal letters, setting a pause from 24 June to 25 July 2027. The suspension covers men’s and women’s domestic competitions.

Brazil will host the Women’s World Cup for the first time, featuring 32 teams and 64 matches. Eight cities are confirmed, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Recife, Fortaleza, Salvador, Brasília and Porto Alegre. FIFA selected them after reviewing 12 bids.

Many venues belong to Série A clubs. FIFA protocol requires early handover for operational preparations, which rules out domestic fixtures during the tournament window. To avoid clashes, the CBF has ringfenced this period in the calendar.

The federation is still finalising the full 2027 schedule and will confirm how national competitions are arranged before and after the break in due course.
