CD Castellón crammed a frantic winter window into Tuesday, confirming Nick Markanich’s exit, selling Kenneth Mamah and bringing back Raúl Sánchez. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the club completed all three moves in quick succession.

Castellón needed departures to free salary-cap room and professional slots for reinforcements. After Óscar Gil’s switch to Real Murcia, the day began with Markanich’s move.

The 26-year-old forward returns to the United States to join MLS side Houston Dynamo on loan until 31 December, with no purchase option. He remains under contract at Castellón until summer 2027. Seen as the third-choice striker by Pablo Hernández, he hopes for more minutes and to rebuild value.

Mamah’s deal is a permanent transfer to Vanspor FK in Türkiye, worth around 385,000 euros. The 27-year-old scored four times in 24 games last season before injury checked his progress, and has one goal in 14 this term. He had slipped down Hernández’s pecking order.

The headline arrival is Sánchez, who returns from Necaxa in Mexico and signs through June 2031. Castellón had sold him for 1,000,000 euros, retaining 10 per cent of a future sale.

He now comes back for 200,000 euros, with a further 200,000 due if Castellón win promotion. Sánchez, 28, first joined in 2022 from Ibiza after a standout spell at Rayo Majadahonda, having also played for Burgos, Alcorcón and Leganés, with youth stints at Trival Valderas and Real Madrid.
