Cedric Kaze talks about his opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage!

Cedric Kaze, one of Kaizer Chiefs' co-coaches, has expressed strong faith in his squad's ability to handle the intense challenges of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. This comes after the Soweto giants decisively defeated AS Simba 3-1 in the second leg at Dobsonville Stadium, securing their advancement after a goalless first-leg stalemate in Lubumbashi.

The journey forward pits them against what Kaze wryly referred to as “serious clients,” a group of continental heavyweights that includes clubs like Wydad Casablanca, Zamalek SC, CR Belouizdad, and the 2023 champions, USM Alger.

Looking at the demanding schedule across multiple competitions, Kaze outlined his philosophy on squad utilization. “I believe every player will have a part to play in this season, not only for CAF games, but the league and Nedbank Cup because we need everyone to do his part,” he stated. He emphasized the value of a strong, unified group, highlighting the experienced members of the team.

“There are experienced players that have played continental games as we mentioned Maboe, Sirino, Mshini, [Inacio] Miguel, Zitha [Kwinika], a lot of them. Everyone is going to be very important because you cannot go through if you don’t have a very good group and we hope everyone is going to contribute to that.”

Reflecting on the heightened level of competition, Kaze acknowledged the quality of their upcoming opponents. “I was checking the teams that are in the CAF Confederation Cup [group stage] and it’s serious clients. There is Zamalek, Wydad, Belouizdad, such good teams and we are happy to go there and to compete.”

He concluded by noting the invaluable growth that comes from such high-stakes matches, adding, “As you said, it’s true those kind of games add experience to the players and also add belief to players that they can make things happen.”
