Marco Garcés has renewed Celta Vigo’s push to take Fer Lopez back in January, just as the Wolves youngster has begun to see more minutes. A loan is being explored, but it depends on Celta creating room in their squad.
“We would love for him to return. He’s exactly the type of player we need. We’ve expressed our interest, but it seems difficult. They invested a significant amount of money, and it was very recently. We have all 25 squad spots filled. If we can offload a couple of players, someone with Fer López’s profile, whether it’s him or another player, would be very interesting.” The remarks were carried by AS.
Celta need outgoings to open a slot. Lopez’s wages have also been flagged as a potential issue, though he is said to be willing to take a financial hit to make a move happen.
After a minor injury, Lopez has come off the bench in the last two matches and caught the eye. Wolves had lined up a loan, yet Edwards could now consider keeping him, with Marshall Munetsi and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde injured.
Wolves are 14 points adrift of safety, so January could reshape the squad. Whether Lopez stays or goes remains open, with his recent minutes strengthening the case to keep him involved.
