Celtic face Club Brugge on Matchday Five of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. The Scottish Champions will be looking to build upon their tally of seven points with a result against the Belgians.
Both teams enjoyed successful weekends in preparation for the meeting at Paradise, Celtic were 4-1 winners against Hearts at Tynecastle while Club Brugge won 7-0 against St Truidense at the weekend.
UEFA have confirmed the refereeing appointments for the game with Bulgarian referee Georgi Kabakov taking charge of the game with Assistant Referees Martin Martgaritov and Diyan Valkov as well as compatriot Vasil Minev operating as Fourth Official.
Dragomir Draganov will be in the VAR hotseat and the Bulgarian official will be assisted by Christian Dingert of Germany.
Kabakov has taken charge of a European night at Celtic Park before. The 38-year-old was in charge of a 3-0 win over FC Süduva in the UEFA Europa League Play-Off as goals from Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor and Kris Ajer helped secure the place in the Europa League Group Stages in Brendan’s first term.
Elsewhere, one Celtic player from Rodgers’ first spell – Dedryck Boyata – will not be involved on Wednesday evening. The former Belgian Internationalist has been playing with the Brugge Reserves having been cast out of the first team picture. We may yet see him in attendance at Celtic Park for the meeting against his former club but it is not expected that he will be involved.
