Celtic’s Liam Scales assists for Ireland as Cristiano Ronaldo sent off in Dublin

Celtic defender Liam Scales laid on an assist for Ireland against Portugal this evening. The central defender has been excellent this season in what has been a difficult time for the club and he continued that with a header across the six yard box for Troy Parrott to take the lead.

It was an excellent header from Scales, inviting his attacking colleague to attack the ball and find the net.

Parrott scored again before the half time break as Ireland impressed in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Into the second half, Cristiano Ronaldo was shown a red card for an elbow on Dara O’Shea. It was the footballing legend’s 226th appearance for Portugal and his first red card. The reaction to the sending off is incredible from the Dublin support on what will be a memorable night for Ireland.
