Cerro Porteño have announced the signing of Vegetti after the forward asked to leave Vasco, with the Rio club accepting his request.

According to Globo.com, the 38-year-old, Vasco’s No 99, formalised on Friday morning his wish to join the Paraguayan side, who made the move public on Saturday.

The striker received a three-year offer and, at his age, viewed it as a final chance to secure a major deal.

Vasco did not oppose his departure and handled the matter respectfully once officially informed.

The move will not generate income for the Rio club, but it will reduce the wage bill, as Vegetti was among the squad’s highest earners.
