Valencia defender César Tárrega, a Spain under-21 international, has shown how his household will watch the Spain v Argentina World Cup final, kicking off at 21:00, with loyalties divided. In an Instagram story, his Argentine partner Sofía Lafuente took a mirror shot wearing the Albiceleste and face paint, while Tárrega stood beside her in La Roja, pointing to Spain’s crest.
As reported by Superdeporte, their scene mirrors many Spanish homes with Argentine ties, where emotions will run high tonight. The couple got engaged in December 2025 and often share their moments on social media.
That blend of flags has also been present inside Valencia’s Girona training camp this week, where Argentine midfielder Guido Rodríguez is a leading voice in the dressing room. The former Betis player, a World Cup winner with Messi’s Argentina in 2022 in Qatar, was close to making the 2026 tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
For 2026/27, Guido is set to be the club’s only Argentine unless the board add another this summer. Valencia’s links run deep, with Mario Kempes lifting the 1978 World Cup as a Valencia player.
Last season there were three Argentines in the squad, Guido, Lucas Beltrán, who returned to Fiorentina after a loan, and Renzo Saravia, signed on a four-month deal to plug right-back issues, problems that persist after moves for Thomas Meunier and Andrés García fell through.
By around midnight it will be clear who is smiling at the Tárrega home, Tárrega if Spain claim a second star, or Lafuente if the Albiceleste celebrate a fourth.
