Como beat Roma 2-1 in Serie A on Sunday as Gian Piero Gasperini refused to shake Cesc Fabregas’s hand after full-time.

The match, on matchday 29, carried weight in the Champions League race. Como began fourth, level on points with Roma but ahead on goal difference, and the win widened their gap.

Roma full-back Wesley was sent off on 64 minutes, which left Gasperini furious in his technical area. He said the red card, which he viewed as unjustified, changed the match, adding, "Como are a strong side but I do not respect their attitude, on the pitch and on the bench", speaking to DAZN.

After the whistle, Fabregas said, "Maybe it is unusual, I do not know, but even when I lose or when I am sent off, I always shake the opposing coach’s hand."

He added, "In two years, I think it has never happened that I do not shake hands at the end. It is how I was raised, I have seen it all my life. It is about respect."

The defeat, combined with Juventus’s 1-0 win over Udinese the day before, leaves Roma down in sixth place.
