Frankfurt’s number eight has clinched World Cup qualification with the Fennec Foxes. Several Eagles are in action on Friday evening – a round-up of all the internationals involving Eintracht players.
Farès Chaibi was the first of Eintracht’s internationals to get started in the second FIFA window of the current season on Thursday – and he did so with a crucial victory in World Cup qualifying. The 3-0 win against Somalia sealed first place in Group G of African qualifying for Algeria, and with it a place at next summer’s World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The Eintracht midfielder, who played the full 90 minutes in Oran, provided the cross that led to the goal by Riyad Mahrez to make it 2-0.
It’s a bumper day of action for the Eagles’ internationals on Friday. While Ritsu Doan and Japan play Paraguay in a friendly, eight other Eagles are also involved in World Cup qualifying. This includes Germany hosting Luxembourg in Sinsheim and a direct clash between Frankfurt teammates Hugo Larsson and Aurèle Amenda. In amongst this, Euro qualifying is also on the programme for the U21 internationals.
