Dave Challinor remains available, keeping him in contention as Leicester City assess options for next season's manager.

LeicesterMercury.co.uk reports that the situation is unresolved more than a month after the 2025/26 Championship campaign ended. Gary Rowett, on a short-term deal since February, won two of 14 matches and could not prevent relegation.

Rowett has not yet been confirmed for League One, and alternatives have been discussed. Russell Martin, Darren Ferguson and Christian Fuchs have been mentioned. Lincoln City's Michale Skubala was briefly linked before joining Bristol City, while Ferguson is said to be in pole to take over at Salford City.

Challinor left Stockport County after guiding the Hatters to the League One play-off final. He had won 144 games in 268 matches during his time there.

Tony Mowbray, 62, was announced on Friday as Michael O'Neil's successor at Blackburn, returning to Rovers after more than five years in charge. Challinor therefore remains on Leicester's list of candidates.

Martin, out of work since Rangers, has also been linked with talks over the King Power Stadium role and could return from holiday to discuss it.
