Anatoliy Trubin’s improbable goal against Real Madrid is still making headlines. With a last-minute header, the Ukrainian goalkeeper handed Benfica a priceless qualification for the Champions League playoffs.

In a column for The Athletic, the 24-year-old keeper looked back on the now-viral play.

“When you’re playing, you don’t think. You just act,” he explained,

“In that moment, you have to take risks. You have to give everything.” he added.

Trubin fully embraced his unexpected run into the opponent’s box:

“I just ran, then moved my head like I was a striker. It was crazy.”
