Eight clubs secured direct Champions League last 16 places in 2026 and earned major financial rewards from their league-phase performances.

Big rewards for Champions League’s best teams

The league phase of Champions League 2026 has ended with eight club qualifying directly for the round of 16 avoiding the playoff round and earning important prize money.

The teams finishing inside the top eight were:

  • Arsenal
  • Bayern Munich
  • Liverpool
  • Tottenham
  • Barcelona
  • Chelsea
  • Sporting Lisbon
  • Manchester City

The final matchday produced unforgettable drama, with 18 match played at the same time as clubs fought for position and direct qualification.

According to financial report published by RMC Sport, these clubs earned large sums based on match results, bonuses and participation rewards.

Arsenal lead the earnings list

Arsenal finished top of the table and received the biggest payout. The Premier League side earned €59.74 million after winning all eight league-phase matches becoming the first club to achieve perfect record in the new Champions League format.

Bayern Munich ended second with €57.33 million helped by seven victories, with their only defeat coming against Arsenal.

Liverpool placed third and collected €54.9 million despite struggling domestically this season.

Tottenham climbed into fourth after benefiting from the final-round results earning €53.9 million.

Barcelona, Chelsea and City also profit

Barcelona finished fifth with €52.89 million taking advantage of strong results in the last two rounds to secure direct qualification.

Chelsea followed in sixth with €52.57 million while Sporting Lisbon were seventh on €52.26 million.

Manchester City completed the top eight earning €51.94 million, enough to book round of 16 spot without needing the playoff stage.

While the top eight clubs enjoyed maximum rewards, Real Madrid suffered costly setback.

The Spanish giants earned around €39 million so far including fixed €18.62 million participation fee plus victory bonuses.

However, a heavy defeat to Benfica in the final round pushed Madrid out of the top eight and into the playoff round.

Reports suggest that missing direct qualification cost the club over €20 million in potential extra prize money.

Madrid can only recover those losses if they successfully qualify for the round of 16 through the playoffs.
