Metz have confirmed Cheikh Sabaly has joined Vancouver’s MLS club. According to L'Équipe, the 26-year-old moves for a fee around one million euros.
The forward was a key figure in Metz’s promotion last season, scoring 15 goals. He has featured in 14 Ligue 1 matches this term.
In August he went on strike in an effort to force a move. At the time, English second-tier side Middlesbrough tabled offers between two and a half and four million euros, which did not persuade Metz.
Sabaly arrived in Lorraine in summer 2018 from Génération Foot. He built experience on loan at Pau then Quevilly-Rouen.
He leaves having played 122 times for Metz, scoring 22 goals.
