Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the signings of Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino in the summer transfer window.
Chukwuemeka, who joined the Blues on a six-year deal from Aston Villa in 2022, was linked with a move to RB Leipzig as a potential makeweight for Xavi Simons.
However, Leipzig wanted to take the 21-year-old on loan, but Chelsea were only interested in a permanent deal, allowing Dortmund to swoop in. He spent last season on loan at the Westfalenstadion.
Sky Sports News report that Chukwuemeka will join BVB for a transfer fee of £21.7 million (€25m), while Anselmino will join on a straight loan.
Fabrizio Romano adds further details about the double deal, claiming it includes add-ons and a “heavy” sell-on clause, which was “key” to the transfer.
There is no buy option included in the loan deal for Anselmino, who will return to Stamford Bridge next summer, and Dortmund will cover his entire salary until then.
Meanwhile, Romano also reports that AS Roma have asked Chelsea about the conditions of a deal for Tyrique George.
The young winger, who has also been linked with Leipzig, is on Roma’s “shortlist” of wide options after Jadon Sancho reportedly turned them down.
The Italian outfit’s director of football, Frederic Massara, suggested this weekend that a move for the Manchester United forward is unlikely to go ahead.
“He’s [Sancho] a strong player who’s been linked to all the top Italian teams,” Massara said (via Gianluca Di Marzio). “I don’t think the conditions or motivation are right to move forward with the deal.
“We know we need to complete the squad, and we’ll do so in line with our project. Gasperini has done extraordinary things, and we hope he can do the same in Rome, even with the predominantly young squad.”
