Manchester City and Chelsea are leading the race to sign one of the breakout names on the European scene, and a talent raised through Rangers’ youth academy in Scotland.

Having come through the Rangers academy and making his senior debut in a League Cup tie in August 2022, Ure managed just two first-team appearances at Ibrox before departing for Anderlecht – where he was largely restricted to the Belgian side’s reserve team.

A fresh start arrived in March 2025, when he signed a four-year deal with Swedish Allsvenskan side IK Sirius – a move that has since transformed his career, with the striker now leading Europe’s Golden Boot standings for 2026.

That form has turned Robbie Ure into one of the most heavily-monitored young forwards on the continent, with interest stretching from the Premier League to Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Turkish Super Lig.

Man City and Chelsea lead Ure chase

Now, according to fresh claims from CaughtOffside, Manchester City and Chelsea are the two clubs that have shown the strongest interest in IK Sirius’ forward Robbie Ure.

Other nobles clubs including Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham have also scouted Ure in recent times, while the 22-year-old also has interest from all of AC Milan, Napoli, Monaco, Lille, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas.

The report quotes an unnamed source who says of the player’s situation, “Chelsea and [Manchester] City have now moved beyond scouting and opened talks, signalling that the process has entered a concrete stage.”

Speaking during a recent interview with BBC Sport on his future and attracting interest from some of Europe’s most prominent clubs, Robbie Ure said, “It’s normal when you’re young and playing well in a good league, you’re going to have interest from good leagues and good clubs.

“Especially when I score four goals, I think the noise is going to increase. It’s something that I’m going be interested in, if I think it’s the right thing for me. But we have to just wait and see. It’s a long summer in the transfer window.

“Until I’m told otherwise, I need to help Sirius. If we continue playing like we have been, then I think it could be a really special season. At the moment, I don’t think I would come back to Scotland.”

He continued, “One day, you never know. I’d love to return to Rangers. That’s just me trying to test myself and see what league I can go to. I feel like I’m in a really good position and I just need to keep going.

“That was the plan when I first came to Sweden, to develop as a player and go on to bigger things. Until then, I need to stay focused and I need to keep proving myself.”
