Chelsea and Manchester United are weighing up a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku and Alejandro Garnacho, according to The Telegraph.

The Blues are in the market for a left winger, and Garnacho is on their list of targets, alongside Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund) and Malick Fofana (Lyon).

Chelsea are currently at the Club World Cup without a recognised senior left-winger.

The West Londoners are still keen on signing Gittens, but another player for that flank would not go amiss.

Manchester United are open to parting ways with Garnacho. They admire Nkunku, and the possibility of a swap deal is on the table.

Despite his profligacy in front of goal, there are many upsides to signing Garnacho for Chelsea.

The Argentine international, who earns £50,000 per week, has made almost 100 Premier League appearances before turning 20.

Garnacho has received a lot of playing time to remove the rough edges from his game.

While Garnacho can still use finetuning, United have done plenty of the hard work for Chelsea, and the Blues could benefit by signing him.

His 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances is impressive. Not many youngsters across Europe’s top five leagues are putting up those numbers.

Besides, Chelsea have enough wingers who threaten with the ball at their feet and could use someone who can make runs behind the opposition’s defence.

Despite claims that manager Ruben Amorim wants Garnacho out of the club, former boss Erik ten Hag was a massive fan and gave him his chance in the first team.

“I love to work with Garnacho,” the Dutch tactician said (via Reuters).

“He is a player who needs a challenge, he likes a challenge, he is very brave, he’s very confident, our job is to push him to high levels.

“He has high potential, and now, we have to get the potential out.”
