In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Chelsea are locked in a battle for AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan. It has been stated that the Blues would have to rival Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the race to land the French goalie in the summer transfer window.

Maignan’s Solid Campaign In Serie A

Maignan has enjoyed a solid campaign at the Milan club after he produced a series of impressive performances for them in Serie A. The 30-year-old has conceded 38 goals and earned 16 clean sheets in 41 appearances for the Milan club this season across all competitions.

The French custodian is currently among the best goalkeepers in Serie A. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Blues are in the running to sign him in this summer transfer period.

His current contract at the San Siro will run out in the summer of 2031. Therefore, Chelsea would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him later this year.

Will Maignan Be A Good Option For Chelsea?

Maignan can be a safe pair of hands in goal when he is playing at his best on the pitch. He is a good handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few crucial saves at the back for his side.

Standing at 1.91m, the French sensation is a commanding presence inside his penalty area and doesn’t hesitate to help his teammates out by collecting crosses and loose balls when required. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Blues manage to get a deal done for him this off-season.

Maignan would undoubtedly bring more quality to Chelsea‘s backline in the short-term. He has got the experience and skill set to challenge for a regular starting place at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 30, Maignan has still got a few good years left in him, which makes him a decent option for the West London giants to pursue in this upcoming transfer period.
