In a recent report, Sport stated that Chelsea are planning to launch a move for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia. It is understood that the Blues are willing to pay €40m to acquire the services of the Spanish striker this summer.

Gonzalo’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football

The 21-year-old is a product of Real Madrid’s academy and deserves credit for breaking into their first team recently. Garcia has featured in ten senior matches for Los Blancos so far, registering four goals and earning two assists in various competitions.

The Madrid-born talent is amongst the best young strikers in Spanish football. Therefore, it is no wonder that the Blues are eyeing a move to bring him to Stamford Bridge in this transfer window. However, Gonzalo would need some time to adapt to the physicality of English football.

His current contract at the Madrid club will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Chelsea would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Gonzalo.

Will Gonzalo Be A Good Option For Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca?

Gonzalo is proficient at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer some decent chances in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. Gonzalo is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a winger on either flank if needed.

However, the Spanish sensation is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if Chelsea manage to bring him on board in this summer transfer period.

We can expect Gonzalo to bring more firepower to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca’s frontline in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a decent, rotational piece in the West London club’s squad.

At 21, Gonzalo is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, he would be a brilliant option for the Blues to consider in this summer transfer window. However, Maresca has to be patient with his development before he can unlock the best out of the gifted striker at Stamford Bridge.
