Chelsea have reported a bizarre incident at their Cobham training base after £30,000 worth of camera equipment mysteriously went missing.

The Blues contacted Surrey Police following the unexpected disappearance of the gear, The Sun report, which was discovered after the first-team returned to training ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Cobham, Chelsea’s sprawling £20 million facility located around 20 miles from Stamford Bridge, is one of the most secure and high-tech training centres in the Premier League.

While it’s possible the equipment was simply misplaced during the off-season – with much of the club’s backroom staff only now returning from summer breaks – the suspicious nature of the incident prompted the club to involve authorities.

Chelsea did not respond to 90min's request for comment.

Chelsea has been hit by thefts before – though not at Cobham itself.

Raheem Sterling’s Surrey home was infamously broken into during the 2022 World Cup, with thieves taking £300,000 worth of watches. Reece James also had a safe stolen from his house in 2021, containing his Champions League and Euro 2020 runners-up medals.

So while this might be a case of summer brain fog – it’s no wonder the Blues are being extra cautious.
