Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed Cole Palmer has suffered a toe injury following an “accident at home”.
Palmer has endured an injury-hit start to the campaign with the 23-year-old dealing with an ongoing groin issue. He has played just 145 minutes of Premier League football this season and has not featured for Chelsea in the league since September. The midfielder has now suffered another setback, following an accident while at home.
Chelsea are awaiting to determine the extent of the toe injury, with fears Palmer has suffered a fracture.
Maresca called the issue a ‘small problem’ but confirmed Maresca will miss this weekend’s trip to Burnley, alongside crunch clashes with Barcelona and Arsenal this week.
“I wake up many times in the night to go to the toilet, I hit my head and leg and everything. It can happen,” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“He was very close. He was back with us almost with the groin, which is very good news, but he has this small problem.
“We don’t know it’s fractured. The only thing we know he is not available for this week and next week.”
