Manchester City may be subject to transfer interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea once again this summer, according to new reports.

Much of Manchester City’s summer transfer window activity has centred around potential arrivals into Pep Guardiola’s squad in the last few weeks, however with deals progressing, there is likely to be movement in the departure lounge.

Kevin De Bruyne became the first major confirmed exit from the club after officials opted not to hand the 33-year-old a new contract, paving the way for the Belgian to complete what is expected to be a free transfer move to Serie A champions Napoli.

There remains lingering doubts over the futures of John Stones and Nathan Ake in defence owing to their inconsistencies in terms of availability, while Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish could be shown the door in the event of suitable proposals to both player and club.

However, following a somewhat inconsistent start to life at Manchester City since arriving at the club in the summer of 2023, Jeremy Doku has been called into question at times by supporters despite bright moments in parts throughout the last season.

Now, the latest line of reporting indicates a potential interest in the Belgium international from within the Premier League, and a club that has seen remarkable success through business done with City in recent history.

That is according to the information of Chelsea-focussed writer Simon Phillips, who reveals that Chelsea are ‘considering’ a move for Manchester City’s Doku as they look to strengthen their left-wing position this summer.

The report clarifies that talk around the Belgian is nothing further than interest, with the 23-year-old ‘one of many’ players looked at by Chelsea, with nothing advanced beyond ‘internal discussions’ at Stamford Bridge.

Officials at the West London club have been consistently linked with Manchester City talents in light of the huge success they have seen through the deal secured to bring Cole Palmer to the Bridge from the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea bosses made a £40 million investment to bring the Englishman to the club in the summer transfer window of 2023, and Palmer has since gone on to become arguably the poster talent of the side recording 40 goals and 25 assists in 90 appearances across competitions.

Manchester City have fielded interest from Chelsea in a number of their other academy stars since, with James McAtee becoming a name mentioned within Stamford Bridge while there was also rebuffed interest in Nico O’Reilly during the last January transfer window.

For now, it remains to be seen what stance City would take on any interest in Jeremy Doku this summer, with the winger highly-rated by Pep Guardiola himself, who believes the player is the best in the world when it comes to one-versus-one attacking.
