Chelsea ‘held further talks with West Ham United over Mohammed Kudus’, according to the Guardian. The Blues failed with their first approach for the Ghanaian international.

‘Discussions have continued’, but Chelsea did not send in an official bid. Chelsea want to include players in the transfer.

However, West Ham prefer a sale for the player whom David Moyes hailed as ‘a terrific young talent’ when he joined. They inserted an £85 million release clause in his deal.

West Ham are concerned about the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). They are looking to balance the books by selling Kudus.

Chelsea had an opportunity to sign the former Ajax ace, but nothing materialised from those talks.

Chelsea are in the market for a versatile attacker to bolster their roster, with Christopher Nkunku poised to leave the club this summer.

While the West Londoners continued talks for Kudus, they are also working on Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Joao Pedro (Brighton & Hove Albion).

The Blues will likely only sign one of these options.

Chelsea do not need to spend big to replace Nkunku – View

Chelsea have spent over £1 billion on new players over the past three seasons.

The Blues have stacked their roster with young players, and it remains unclear why they want to add more names.

Nkunku is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge because Chelsea already have enough wingers and strikers in the team.

They do not need the Frenchman or a replacement if he uses the exit door.

Chelsea should focus their funds on adding a world-class option to the left wing following Jadon Sancho’s return to Manchester United.

According to the Guardian, Borussia Dortmund forward Jamie Bynoe-Gittens remains the top target for the Blues to reinforce the left flank.

Chelsea have also spoken to Lyon about Malick Fofana.

Chelsea should have been aiming higher than the pair, but they continue their youth-centric policy as they bid to make their already young squad even younger this summer.
