On Monday, the Premier League fined Chelsea more than £10 million (€12 million) for illegal payments made during Roman Abramovich’s ownership, according to L'Équipe.

The league concluded two separate disciplinary cases over secret sums paid to unregistered agents and third parties in relation to transfers between 2011 and 2018.

Chelsea’s academy received an immediate nine-month recruitment ban and a £750,000 (€868,000) fine for player registrations between 2019 and 2022.

The club may still recruit for the first team in the next summer and winter windows, provided it commits no further breaches.

Chelsea self-reported the breaches after Todd Boehly’s 2022 takeover, which reduced the penalties. The club admitted making £47 million in secret payments.
