Chelsea assistant head coach Willy Caballero has allayed fears of injuries suffered by Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong.
Caballero was speaking in a press conference after Chelsea’s dramatic 2-1 stoppage-time win over Chelsea, with manager Enzo Maresca not allowed to address the media because he had been sent off late on when shown a second yellow card for leaving his technical area to celebrate Estevao's winning goal.
Chelsea came into the game missing eight players through injury or suspension and Badiashile and Acheampong formed an impressive centre-back pairing until both having to be withdrawn with potential injuries.
But speaking after the match, Caballero said: “The two central defenders, it was just prevention.
“They made a great effort today, but just prevention. We spoke with them already and they said that they are okay, so [it is] good for us.”
Acheampong, 19, was making just his second start of the season following an assured display on the opening weekend when he covered for the injured Tosin Adarabioyo in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.
Badiashile made his first appearance for 94 days when he started in midweek against Benfica and retained his place with Trevoh Chalobah serving a suspension against Liverpool.
