Chelsea’s defence has been dreadful this season, and only seems to be getting worse. The Blues desperately need to add some quality to the back line, and don’t have time to wait for youngsters to develop.

Given that, it’s no surprise that links connecting us with Sporting defender Goncalo Inaccio have returned. Now 24, the defender continues to impress in Portugal, and it seems just a matter of time before a Premier League team take a chance on him.

Inacio a perfect Chelsea target – but they may have waited too long

Sport Witness translate quotes from the continent which claim that the Blues want the central defender this summer, and are ready to pay his €60m release clause.

Left footed and technically good, Inacio has helped his team keep an impressive 13 clean sheets in his 26 league appearances this season. He’s great on the ball and we can see just why Chelsea would consider him a good fit.

As with all these rumours, however – the question is why a top talent like the Portugal international would come and play for a team likely to be in the Conference League at best?

In other news…

Anthony Gordon has been linked with a move to Chelsea, but we can’t see why he’d make that move.

Bernardo Silva would be a great signing for Chelsea, according to former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit.
