Chelsea are preparing to take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League tonight, but that hasn’t stopped the Blues thinking ahead to the next transfer window.

A report from CaughtOffside, translating Calcio Mercato in Italy, claims the Blues have a lavish January target lined up. Juventus attacking midfielder Kenan Yildiz, who has made a brilliant start to the season for the Old Lady, is apparently a major target for us.

The 20 year old “has the attributes to develop into a future star,” they write

“Chelsea would do well to secure his signature. Even if they have to pay a premium for him, the deal could be worth doing in the long run.”

The Blues spent big on their attack this summer once again, bringing in Jamie Gittens, Estevao Willian, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Buonanotte. How many of those players have the current level of Yildiz, or the potential to be better? Perhaps only Estevao.

That’s why many fans would love to see the Turkey international come in, despite the summer spend just made.

Yildiz feels out of reach already for Chelsea

We would love Chelsea to sign Yildiz – he seems to be progressing steadily and really fulfilling his enormous potential. But at this stage we’d have to say it’s not looking likely. The time to move was this summer. €70m was a manageable price for Chelsea, who we saw pursue similarly priced targets like Xavi Simons.

But now they’ve missed out on Yildiz, we can only expect his price to rise. By the end of this season, Juve could be asking for €100m or more, and it’s really hard to see any situation where Chelsea pay that, barring a shock Champions League win this season or similar.
