Chelsea Women made a flawless start at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium, winning both group games to lead Group 1 on day one of the World Sevens Football London Edition.

According to Hounslow Herald, the seven-a-side format produced a frenetic opening. Aggie Beever-Jones struck twice against Everton before supplying three assists versus Leicester City.

Head coach Sonia Bompastor said the format suits the bravery and initiative she wants from her squad.

Manchester United edged West Ham 5-4 in the day's most dramatic contest, breaking the W7F single-game goals record. Norwegian forward Elisabeth Terland hit a hat-trick to finish day one as top scorer.

Aston Villa later beat Tottenham Hotspur 6-3, the second nine-goal thriller of the programme.

Across six matches, 35 goals were scored, underlining the attacking nature of a competition launched in Estoril in May 2025.

The event is also distributing up to $10,000 in community grants to girls' football charities nominated by the clubs. The group stage concludes on Friday, with finals day on Saturday, when local schoolgirls will play on the Gtech pitch as part of the Rising Sevens initiative.
