Chelsea arrive at Wembley with belief renewed, bodies returning and a trophy within reach. For a side stretched by injuries, the timing could hardly be better before today’s FA Cup final against Man City.
Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho have both returned to training after missing the last two matches, giving interim head coach Calum McFarlane badly needed width. With Estevao, Jamie Gittens and Jesse Derry still unavailable, Chelsea’s attacking options have been thin, and one of Neto or Garnacho is expected to start.

Robert Sanchez is also expected to return in goal after missing last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool. The Spaniard had been sidelined by a cut to the head suffered in the home defeat by Nottingham Forest, with Filip Jorgensen stepping in at Anfield.
Sanchez’s return should restore Chelsea’s first-choice presence behind a defence that could include Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella. James, back from a hamstring injury, may make his first start in two months, a major lift in leadership and athleticism.
Colwill’s comeback has been equally significant. After missing the season so far with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, he impressed at Liverpool and could again be trusted in central defence.
McFarlane must decide whether to restore Chelsea’s 4-2-3-1 shape or retain the 3-4-3 that earned a spirited point on Merseyside. Against Man City, control and courage will matter as much as structure.
Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo are likely to anchor midfield, with Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Neto supporting Joao Pedro. Chelsea need Palmer’s craft, Fernandez’s timing and Neto’s direct running to trouble City at Wembley.
Predicted Chelsea XI, 4-2-3-1: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Lavia, Caicedo; Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro
Injured: Estevao, Gittens, Derry
Time and date: 3pm BST on Saturday May 16, 2026
How to watch: BBC and TNT Sports
Chelsea have endured disruption, but finals often turn on availability, nerve and moments. With Sanchez, James, Neto and Garnacho back in contention, McFarlane’s side have fresh cause for optimism against Man City.
