Chelsea are weighing up a summer move for Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs, with a valuation of up to £60m, according to Football Insider.
The Blues remain in the hunt for next season’s Champions League. They secured an FA Cup semi-final place with a 7-0 win over League One basement club Port Vale on Saturday.
Yet doubts persist over head coach Liam Rosenior’s goalkeeping options. Robert Sanchez has struggled for consistency and Filip Jorgensen has not offered a convincing alternative, despite almost £50m spent on the pair.
Roefs, a Netherlands Under-21 and former NEC Nijmegen keeper, has impressed in his debut Premier League season at the Stadium of Light. He has nine clean sheets in 30 appearances in all competitions. An injury has sidelined him for Sunderland’s last four fixtures in all competitions.
Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs and could assess a bid. Liverpool and Manchester City are also said to be keen as they consider adding to their goalkeeping options.
