Chelsea have agreed a deal for Sporting Lisbon star Geovany Quenda and he will move to Stamford Bridge next year.

The Blues are set to pay a fee in the region of £40million for the winger, who does not turn 18 until next month.

Quenda will stay with Sporting next season before joining Chelsea in the summer of 2026, when he will sign a seven-year contract with an option to extend by a further 12 months.

The 17-year-old had previously been attracting interest from Manchester United, who are coached by his old boss from Sporting, Ruben Amorim.

Chelsea have won the race for Quenda, though, and his signing will be viewed as a major coup by the club.

The teenager is capable of operating on either flank and already has experience of playing in the Champions League.

Quenda has registered five assists in the Portuguese top-flight this season and has caught the eye with his performances.

Under their current ownership, Chelsea have made an effort to sign the best young players in the world - and this continues that push.

The Blues are fighting to qualify for the Champions League this season and are fourth in the Premier League with 10 games to go.

Chelsea are also into the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League after beating Copenhagen 3-1 on aggregate in the last 16.

“This club always won trophies in the past and we need to do our best to achieve our target this season,” said manager Enzo Maresca. “We have to give to the fans and the club a title.”
