Chelsea will not try to bring forward the transfer of Emanuel Emegha despite Liam Delap’s shoulder injury, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues signed the Dutchman, and he was supposed to move to Stamford Bridge next summer.

However, Delap’s injury sparked rumours that Chelsea would accelerate the move for Emegha.

The Daily Mail report pours cold water on those rumours, with Chelsea set to stick to their current options up top.

For one, such a move would further anger the already frustrated Strasbourg fanbase, who do not appreciate being Chelsea’s development ground.

Emegha has already come under fire since making his transfer to the Blues public, and BlueCo must avoid stoking the flames by dragging him to London in January.

Chelsea will likely have to continue with the underperforming Joao Pedro, while the 19-year-old Marc Guiu plays back-up.

If push comes to shove, manager Enzo Maresca can use Pedro Neto or Tyrique George as the false nine. The West Londoners have a large squad for this purpose.

Meanwhile, the Club World Cup champions continue to hold their breath over Delap’s fitness.

The Englishman has already missed a chunk of the season, and he looks set for another long absence.

Even when he has been fit, his time on the pitch has been marred by underwhelming performances coupled with disciplinary issues.

The decision to let go of Nicolas Jackson to sign Delap continues to reek of poor planning.

The Senegalese striker has his faults, but the former Ipswich Town ace was never the upgrade that the club needed.

Now, Jackson is stuck at Bayern Munich, barely getting respectable playing time, while he could be doing a job for a Chelsea side that desperately needs his services more.

Bayern have made it clear that they have no intentions of signing Jackson, leaving all parties in a dire lose-lose situation.
