Chelsea played a dreadful first half against League One Lincoln City.
Let’s face it, nobody wanted to be there. We are knackered after a busy week facing Bayern and Man U (and losing both) and we’ve got a worrying game against Brighton at the weekend. This was a game we just wanted to get through, and in the end we managed it.
Enzo Maresca chose a strong team, but even they struggled to get the job done. At least 4 players we expect to start on Saturday were in the mix, but in a dire first half we couldn’t get anything going.

WhoScored’s rating system had some interesting results. Tyrique George was the most highly rated for the Blues after bagging a superb goal, firing in a stinging half volley from the edge of the box just after half time which suddenly turned the game in our favour. He then assisted Facundo Buonanotte’s winner, explaining his match leading final score of 8.1.
Buonanotte got a solid 7.2, second best on the team, while Andrey Santos, Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah were all tied in third place on 7.1.
We shouldn’t need to tell you who the lowest was – Enzo Fernandez got a horrific 5.4 after his lazy pass across goal was picked off for the home team’s goal. Filip Jorgensen a 5.8 after a shaky night between the sticks.
Wesley Fofana is still working his way back from his latest long injury, so we have some doubts he will play again on Saturday. That would mean Chalobah lining up alongside Tosin Adarabioyo to face the Seagulls. That partnership was doing well earlier in the season, and can hopefully produce another strong performance here.
