The 16-year-old rejected the chance to stay at Arsenal
Young English wonderkid Chido Obi-Martin has today signed his contract with Manchester United after leaving Arsenal, according to reports.
The prolific teenage forward was a transfer target for clubs across England and Europe during the summer after deciding to leave the Gunners when his schoolboy terms expired, having rejected the chance to become a scholar with the north London club.
United swooped and landed Obi-Martin, who will turn 17 years old in November. According to X account ‘@MUFC_Youth’, Obi-Martin on Friday signed his contract with United and an official announcement of his signing is not too far off.
Certainly one for the future, with the 16-year-old has made headlines for his incredible goalscoring exploits at youth level with Arsenal last season.
Obi-Martin notched 10 goals in one game for the Gunners’ Under-16 side in a 14-3 demolition of Liverpool aged just 15 back in October 2023, while in April this year he netted seven for the U18s in a 9-0 thrashing of Norwich.
In total he scored 32 times after being promoted to the U18s last term, including 29 in just his last 11 appearances.
