Federico Chiesa came on as a substitute to make a terrific late block to salvage a point for Liverpool in a disappointing 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The Italian came on for summer signing flop Alexander Isak in the 86th minute, with head coach Arne Slot once again giving the former Fiorentina and Juventus winger little chance to make his mark on the game.
However, this did not stop the Italian from running back in the 94th minute, when a counter attack put the visitors through on goal. After Alisson came out and failed to deal with the attack, the winger covered for him and stopped Sunderland from scoring a late winner.

He touched the ball just 5 times in his brief cameo on the pitch but he once again delivered off the bench and Liverpool fans have taken to social media to praise the Italian.
“Every single time Chiesa is on the pitch he makes a positive contribution, from attack to defence,” one fan wrote, after the match.

Another said “It is impossible not to love Federico Chiesa, this is the type of fight that rubs off on other players.”
“Federico Chiesa has single-handedly meant more to Liverpool this season with his passion and drive, than any of our other players, except maybe Szoboszlai and Ekitike,” another claimed.
Below are some of the best comments about the winger after the match:

Just a Federico Chiesa appreciation post. He’s never given the credit he deserves by Arne Slot, but whenever he’s on the pitch, he makes a difference. Goals, assists and tonight a heroic goal-line clearance. Deserves so much more minutes. pic.twitter.com/8V1b1Cv8nK — 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒄𝒐🧣 (@WilcoFtbl) December 3, 2025
