Lazio Manager Marco Baroni will reportedly rotate between his two goalkeepers Ivan Provedel and Christos Mandas in the UEFA Europa League over the next few weeks.

The Background on Ivan Provedel & Christos Mandas

Provedel has been the club’s ultimate first choice since his arrival from Spezia in the summer of 2022. And this season, the Italy international has thus far participated in every Serie A contest, conceding 12 goals in eight appearances. Curiously, his only clean sheet of the season came in his lone UEFA Europa League outing against Dynamo Kyiv.

For his part, Mandas has yet to feature in Serie A this campaign. The young Greek custodian had to wait until the Europa League contest against OGC Nice to make his first appearance of the season.

Marco Baroni Reportedly Changes Mind & Will Rotate Goalkeepers

According to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Baroni is leaning towards handing Mandas another opportunity to impress when the Biancocelesti take on FC Twente away from home on Thursday. Nevertheless, the source expects the manager to resort to Provedel’s services in the following European matchday when the Italians lock horns with FC Porto who represent a sterner challenge.

Therefore, the pecking order in the goalkeeping departments remains clear despite Mandas’ impressive showings in the later stages of the previous campaign when he valiantly deputized for the injured Provedel. However, management continues to insist that the Greece international will have an important role to play at the club in the future.
