Manchester City and Goal Click are collaborating to capture the passion and diversity of the City fanbase in the United States before the club embarks on its FIFA Club World Cup journey.
We will share the personal stories of City supporters across six US cities, highlighting the unique ways they support the team.
Football has taken Brooklyn FC player Dana Scheriff all around the world. But wherever she is, she always finds new friends through her beloved Manchester City.
My name is Dana Scheriff, I am 26 and from Babylon, New York. I am a professional footballer for Brooklyn FC, and I have been in love with the game since I was five. I played in college at Monmouth University for four unforgettable years before heading to England in 2020 to study for a Master’s degree at Durham University and play on their team.
The pandemic had other plans, as England went into lockdown the day I arrived. But that twist led me to try out for the Durham Women’s Championship team, marking the start of my professional journey.
Football became my passport. I played in Iceland, Ireland, and Switzerland, winning cups, leagues, and earning a few personal accolades. Each stop taught me more about the game and myself.
In 2023, I played for Athlone Town in Ireland during a historic season, winning the FAI Cup for the first time in 99 years and the President’s Cup earlier that year. I was proud to earn the Golden Boot, Fans’ Player of the Year, and spots on both the Professional Footballers’ Association and League of Ireland Teams of the Year.
In 2024, I joined Swiss side FC Aarau for six months, embraced a new league, and finished as the team’s top scorer.
Now back in New York with Brooklyn FC, it feels like a full-circle moment. The same spark that lit up the pitches in my hometown still drives me. I am grateful not just for the wins, but for the experiences, the people, and the growth football has given me. Coming home to continue this journey is an absolute honor.
Being part of a brand new team in the brand new USL Super League has brought its challenges, but also valuable lessons. The biggest takeaway for me was that after eight years, I finally get to live in the same city as my family and friends. It has also been rewarding to help build something bigger and create more opportunities for US players who often had to go abroad to start their careers.
I started supporting City in 2013, and it has been a journey ever since. Growing up in the US, football was never really on in my household. I loved playing, but did not have anyone around me who shared that passion.
That changed when a friend took me to see City play Chelsea at Yankee Stadium. Watching Yaya Touré’s grace and Aguero’s precision live was a defining moment - I knew I had found my team.
From there, I was all in. I followed the 2013-14 season closely, and watching City win the title on the final day against West Ham was a sports moment I will never forget.
When Pep arrived in 2016, everything changed. As a player, I have always admired his philosophy. Seeing him reshape City into a record-breaking force made me love the club even more.
Since then, my bond with City has only deepened. From the 100-point season to Aguero’s farewell, and the 2022-23 historic treble, watching the club grow from the one I fell in love with in 2013 to one of the best in the world has been surreal.
Following City has always been more than just supporting a team because it helped me feel connected to the game I loved.
Being a Manchester City supporter in New York is amazing. The fan community here is passionate, welcoming, and growing every year. I have been lucky to attend events like the Treble Trophy Tour and the Together: Four in a Row screening in Manhattan. They were great moments that brought fans together.
On match days, head to Amity Hall Downtown (80 West 3rd St in Greenwich Village) which is the official Manchester City supporters' bar. You will be welcomed by the New York Sky Blues, a non-profit that raises money for charity and makes every fan feel at home. The atmosphere is electric, with passionate supporters creating a true sense of community. Whether you are a local or just visiting, it is the perfect spot to cheer on City.
Manchester City has played a major role in turning New York into a real soccer city. By backing NYCFC, they have helped build a model MLS club and invested deeply in the community through youth programs, grassroots initiatives, and plans for NYC’s first pro soccer stadium in Queens. That is a game changer, especially for kids like me who grew up without easy access to professional matches, as most stadiums are across the river in New Jersey.
City has also brought global football energy to NYC. Since getting to Manchester is not easy, it is amazing that they host friendlies here. From open training sessions to fan meetups and trophy tours, they consistently create experiences that feel real and meaningful for local supporters.
Now, as a professional footballer, it is harder to catch the matches live, but I always find a way. I have connected with City fans everywhere I have lived - from small-town Akranes in Iceland to Aarau, Switzerland. This has made following the team even more special. A few teammates here in Brooklyn are City fans too, and we have built our own little fan zone at home.
When I can, I head to pubs in Manhattan or Brooklyn because the energy during big games is unreal. If I am on the move, I stream them from my phone, laptop, or even in the locker room. No matter where I am, City is always part of my day.
I could not be more excited for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, especially as it will be hosted here in the US. Watching City on this stage feels surreal, and I am making the most of it. I will be at the opening match against Wydad AC on 18 June in Philly with a few teammates. Experiencing that atmosphere with fellow fans and players will be unforgettable.
I believe City will rise to the occasion. This season had its challenges, but tournaments like this are where champions prove themselves. I cannot wait to chant alongside fans from around the world and be a part of another historic chapter in City’s journey.
