Valencia legend Claudio 'Piojo' López has moved into the boardroom as Benidorm's new sporting vice-president. The Alicante club compete in Lliga Comunitat.
The club said in a statement that it had appointed Víctor Oñate as chief executive and brought in López as sporting vice-president to fill the vacancy left by David Villa, who departed several months ago due to other professional commitments.
López had been working as a sporting adviser since March 2023, when David Villa’s DV7 Group took charge of Benidorm. After that spell, the former Valencia forward has opted to take on greater responsibility.
He now joins the board to apply his experience in football to improve the functioning of the first team and the academy, with the latter considered a key pillar of the project.
The restructuring is intended to consolidate the club’s board structure and strengthen all departments as Benidorm continue their development.
