Claudio Úbeda was booed by Boca Juniors supporters before and after the 0-0 draw with Racing at La Bombonera, intensifying scrutiny of his tenure.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, jeers rang out when his name was read by the stadium announcer and again at full time. He later faced the media in the Estadio Alberto J. Armando to address the criticism.
Úbeda said winning is the only way to win back the fans, adding that he understands their frustration. He pointed to attitude and organisation as positives and said he left feeling calm.
Since last season’s Apertura semi-final defeat to Racing, criticism has only grown. Some supporters argue the cycle is over, calling for him to step aside or for Juan Román Riquelme to make a change.
The 56-year-old has no intention of resigning and plans to continue until his contract expires in June 2026. A decision on any extension to the end of that year will depend on results in the coming months, with the Copa Libertadores his primary objective.
Despite the stalemate, Boca showed little fluency, with limited connection between midfield and attack during a third straight game lacking clear improvement. Úbeda nevertheless highlighted effort and order, accepted that a draw is not enough, and said the match unfolded as the rugged battle they expected.
