Grace Clinton believes City are more than capable of competing for top honours heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

The England international has joined the Club on transfer deadline day from Manchester United on a four-year deal.

Still just 22, Clinton was a standout performer for the Reds in 2024/25, earning her a spot in the Barclays WSL Team of the Season.

But in the next chapter of her young career, the midfielder can’t wait to play her part in what she believes is an exciting future for City.

“I think there are endless possibilities can be achieved with this team,” Clinton said.

“It’s an amazing squad with so much potential. It’s not for the future, it’s for right now and I think I’m really excited for that.”

“I think when people think about me, they think I’m quite a physical player and someone who can get in the box and score goals.

“But, also for me, it’s something I want to showcase, and I think City is the perfect place. I love to get on the ball, and I love to create things.

“I love to break up the play and read the game, so I want to learn from people like Hasegawa in doing that and bring the physicality but also showcase the other aspects of my game. I don’t think I’ve been able to do that in the past.”

Clinton earned her stripes with hugely successful loan spells at Bristol City and Tottenham Hotspur, winning PFA Young Player of the Year at the latter for her displays across the 2023/24 campaign.

She followed that up with an excellent season at United, grabbing nine goals in 28 appearances in all competitions, including two against City.

But Clinton insists there’s still room for further improvement in her game, and she feels that the best place for her to make that happen is at the Joie Stadium.

She added: “Last season was a big year for me in terms of competing at the top and trying to compete in big games.

“At Tottenham I learned so much and I grew as a player and each year I keep on growing and growing and I’ve still got so much more to learn.

“It was nice to sort of get accolades when you’re scoring goals and things like that, obviously you’re improving a little bit.

“But I still think I have so much to improve on last year and I just want to showcase that.”
