Club América are being linked with Boca Juniors striker Miguel Merentiel, with Olé reporting they are very interested in the Uruguayan.

It is almost three weeks since América were knocked out of the Apertura 2025 and there have been no official ins or outs.

The full squad are due to report in Coapa for medical and fitness tests by the end of this week, when changes could become clear.

Merentiel is a centre-forward with a strong track record in South America and is currently Boca’s leading scorer.

The report says Boca do not wish to sell and, for now, the only route would be to trigger a release clause of around 18 million dollars, considered out of reach in Mexican football.

It also notes the 29-year-old would be open to leaving if offered a higher salary, which could ease any move. Rayados are also said to be interested.
