Juventus’ desire to sign Pierre Kalulu permanently is now evident and clear, after a discussion between the club and the defender’s agents.

As Calciomercato.com report, the Bianconeri have decided to use their option to buy, thus converting Kalulu’s loan spell into a permanent stay. In the last few days, there has been a telephone contact between the Old Lady and the player’s entourage, confirming a common desire to proceed.

However, despite having an agreement in principle, the official buy-out will not happen immediately. Juve still needs time to fully formalise the operation, but negotiations are well underway and the call has been made.

Juve paid €3m as a loan fee and €14m will be added for the permanent signing, with the addition of some bonuses that could bring the total to a figure that will not exceed €20m. Considering the performances and the impact that Kalulu has had in his first season, it can be considered a ‘bargain’.

The Frenchman has offered solid and consistent performances, becoming one of the pillars in a department that this year has had to deal with several difficulties, including numerous injuries that would destabilise most clubs.

One aspect that has raised some questions concerns the possible link between Kalulu’s permanent stay and qualification for the next edition of the Champions League. However, it does not depend on a top four finish, because they consider it an ‘advantageous’ operation regardless.

It must be remembered that Milan signed Kalulu for less than €1m from Lyon, and therefore the money that they make from his sale will be a pure capital gain.
