Sam Coffey feels City’s last-gasp win over London City Lionesses will only add to the team’s momentum and confidence.
Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s 86th-minute strike sealed a 12th successive WSL victory and moved us nine points clear at the summit.
City had taken an early lead through Kerolin, but the hosts drew themselves level midway through the second half and looked like they’d come away with a point until Shaw’s late intervention.
It was a gutsy and significant win for the Blues, and one Coffey feels sets us up nicely for a huge clash with Chelsea next Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

“It puts us in an excellent position,” she said.
“There’s no settling, ever, but I think this gives us the confidence and momentum that we need.
“[It was a feeling of] Relief, the first City goal when I’m on the field, so it was just joy and excitement.
“I think it would’ve left with a bitter taste in my mouth if the debut was on a day where we didn’t get the result, so the fact that both can come together is all that matters to me.”
Coffey came on with around 15 minutes to play for her City debut and looked calm and composed in the midfield.
And the US international was delighted to help the Blues to victory in her City bow.
She said: “It was definitely a bit of a stressful game to come into, when Andree called me in I was like “okay, let’s do it”.
“Obviously I’ve been waiting to make my debut and have spent the last few weeks just trying to get my fitness back and settle coming from an off season, so I was happy to contribute to the team however I can.
“It was a chaotic one, but the biggest thing is we’re leaving with three points, that’s all that matters to me so I’m just really happy and honoured.”
