In Palmeiras’ recent high-stakes moments, a familiar theme keeps returning, Colombians in the squad. That tradition continues with Arias, signed from Wolverhampton for €25 million, among the club’s biggest acquisitions.
According to Nosso Palestra, the Verdão have repeatedly leaned on Colombian influence, often with key roles in title-winning campaigns.
Back in the 1990s, defender Rincón helped forge the side’s competitive identity. Later, names such as Asprilla and Muñoz featured in squads across different eras.
Yerry Mina was pivotal during a landmark stage of the club’s rebuild, a cornerstone of the 2016 Brazilian title run and still recalled for leadership and attacking presence.
Midfielder Atuesta formed part of the multi-title group in recent seasons. Richard Ríos has since cemented himself as a midfield pillar, embodying the physicality and intensity of today’s Palmeiras.
Arias was developed in Colombia, built his reputation at Fluminense, then moved to Wolves in 2025, arriving during a difficult spell for the English side.
Beyond nationality, his arrival underlines the scale of investment and the board’s belief in keeping Palmeiras competitive on all fronts. There is an expectation he will be a leading figure in the club’s next decisive cycle.
