Carlos Augusto credited Inter Milan’s collective desire as the defining factor in Sunday’s dramatic 4-3 victory at Como, while urging caution about the Scudetto race with six games still to play.
The Brazil defender spoke to both Inter TV and the assembled press at the Sinigaglia, delivering a grounded and honest assessment of a match that swung wildly before Inter held on for a crucial three points.
“It was a great victory, it is never easy to play here and today we saw that,” he said, via FCInterNews.
“Today we wanted the victory and that made the difference. Maybe we conceded a few too many goals, but we won and that is fine.”
Indeed, the half-time goal was identified as a pivotal moment by the Brazilian.
“Going into the break two goals down would have been different,” he said.
“The team showed what it wants, we never gave up and did everything to win.”
However, Carlos Augusto was clear that the title race is far from over.
“We know what has happened in previous years. We must do our best, the Scudetto is not yet done. I have total confidence in my teammates and the staff.”
On the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Como, he was equally determined, with quotes via FCInterNews.
“They are in good form and having a great season. We want to give our maximum to reach the final because we are Inter.”
Furthermore, when asked about his contract renewal, a topic that has dominated transfer talk in recent weeks – Carlos Augusto kept his priorities clear.
“We are talking about it, but my main objective is the next two months. We have two trophies to win. Then we will see.”
