Liverpool could end up signing a world-class talent after concerns about the player developed elsewhere. The Reds can take advantage.
Liverpool will engage in the transfer market in 2026 - even if it doesn’t appear to be the January one. We’ve got around a week to go in this window and the Reds haven’t made a single change to their first-team squad.
That does feel very strange given the injury situation. Liverpool lost Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley for the rest of the season, while Alexander Isak is out long-term, too.
And it would be one thing if the squad were flying before the injuries but they absolutely haven’t been. Liverpool look a world away from their title-winning best after the changes made back in pre-season.
One of the more controversial changes was to sell Luis Diaz and not replace him. It’s left Liverpool without a natural winger - someone who wants to take defenders on and drive towards goal.
Now, it does appear that the club will sign that replacement. Only, we’re going to have to wait.
Liverpool have been linked with Yan Diomande for months now, ever since he started truly lighting up the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. The teenager only broke into the Leganes first-team around a year ago before earning a move to Germany.
And it doesn’t sound as though he’ll stick around there. RB Leipzig managing director Oliver Mintzlaff said during the week that they wouldn’t sell Diomande for €90m. The insinuation is that he’ll cost more than that - probably closer to £90m.
Now, Bayern Munich are one of the key rivals Liverpool face to sign Diomande. Possibly the biggest, in fact.
