The ongoing personnel woes at La Liga giants Barcelona have this week continued to mount.

This comes amid confirmation that youngster Ibrahim Diarra is facing up to a lengthy incoming spell on the sidelines, after undergoing a surgical procedure on his knee.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Barca Atlètic on Friday:

‘Barça Atlètic player Ibrahim Diarra underwent surgery this Thursday for a rupture in the anterior rectus of his right leg.

‘The operation was carried out at the Barcelona Hospital and was carried out by doctors Jordi Puigdellívol and Marc Aguilar, from the Club’s Medical Services.

‘The expected recovery time will be five months.’

Diarra, for his part, is widely considered one of the standout young attacking talents in Catalunya’s capital at present.

The 18-year-old Malian – who has trained with Hansi Flick’s first-team on several occasions in the past – boasts a whole host of impressive qualities in the final third, capped by a keen eye for goal.

Fresh off fellow Blaugrana starlet Landry Farré being condemned to an extended spell on the treatment table earlier this week, news of the extent of Diarra’s injury will in turn come as a heavy blow for those behind the scenes in Barcelona.
