Milan have confirmed that midfielder Ardon Jashari has suffered a fractured fibula as a result of a clash in training on Thursday, which is expected to keep the summer signing out of action for at least two months.

Confirmed: Jashari out for eight weeks with fractured fibula

Massimiliano Allegri confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that Jashari ‘got hurt’ during the morning’s training session after a coming together with centre-forward Santiago Gimenez, and that he would be unavailable for Friday’s Serie A match against Lecce.

Reports soon after suggested that the injury was slightly worse than Allegri had led on, and that the Switzerland international might have suffered a fractured fibula.

Those reports have since been confirmed by the club, who wrote: “Ardon Jashari underwent tests following the injury he suffered today, which showed a compound fracture of the right fibula.”

Reports from multiple outlets, including Sky Sport Italia, suggest that Jashari will be sidelined for a minimum of eight weeks.

If that is the case, the 23-year-old will miss out on upcoming Serie A tests against the likes of Bologna, Napoli, Juventus and Fiorentina, as well as the next two international breaks.

Jashari, who joined Milan at a cost of €37m from Club Brugge earlier this month, is currently the most expensive Serie A signing of the summer transfer window.
