Without Salah among their ranks last season, Liverpool would've likely missed out on the Premier League title.
The Egyptian King put in a record-breaking campaign last term and his 50+ goal contributions made him one of the Reds' most important players.
This season, things haven't gone quite to plan and while his bad form justifies him sitting on the bench, the fact that players such as Gakpo and Ibrahima Konate are still getting games has seemingly struck a nerve with the attacker.
Reactions about Salah's situation have been shared since Saturday with Coady now chiming in with his thoughts.
“I don’t know Mo Salah, none of us know Mo Salah so we don’t know the sort of character he is,” he said on the BBC's Football Daily Podcast.
“But we know he’s got this in him because he did it last season when it comes to getting a new contract.
“We know he’s got that in him and I’ve been trying to put myself in the shoes [of Salah] because I knew I was coming on here and from his point of view, why would it go to them lengths.
“I can only think of something has gone on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.
“Now he should never ever go to the press and do what he’s done because you put your teammates in jeopardy and that’s the most important thing.”
Even though Liverpool are already short on attackers as it is, it feels like leaving Salah out of the Reds' Champions League squad was the best move.
It's clear that starting on the bench for the Reds' last few games has hurt Salah more than most fans, and perhaps even Slot could've ever imagined and even though neither party wants a January exit to occur, that unfortunately feels like the way things are heading.
Due to Salah's omission, a lot of pressure will be placed upon the heads of players such as Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike and if they can perform well alongside one another and perhaps even win the tie, it could be the start of a new-look Liverpool.
The 2025-26 season has been far from ideal and with Liverpool's Premier League title hopes close to non-existent at the moment, a solid Champions League run could really help out everyone involved with the Anfield outfit.
That is, especially when one of the Reds' main goals this season was to perform well in the competition with Slot even saying that he'd prefer to win the Champions League rather over the top flight title this term.
