Manchester United succumbed to a humiliating loss to League Two side Grimsby Town on Wednesday, which saw them crash out of the EFL Cup in the second round.

There are quite a few pretenders in this current iteration of players, and it is high time INEOS acts and gets them out of the club.

The midfield is among the weakest in the Premier League, yet Ruben Amorim and the recruitment team thought it best to buy three attackers instead of a competent midfielder.

Manuel Ugarte is among the worst buys in recent history, and was hooked at half time against the Mariners. Casemiro no longer has the legs to play two games in a week, yet he starts in the Premier League due to a lack of alternatives.

Midfield is one of Amorim’s biggest problems

Bruno Fernandes is also not suited to a deeper role, while Kobbie Mainoo lacks the speed and physicality to thrive in the head coach’s system.

A move for Carlos Baleba or Adam Wharton are among the best bets to get the team back on track, but after the expenditure so far this summer, and without player sales, it is difficult to see the Red Devils pull off either deal.

TBR Football have come up with a surprise revelation. They have claimed that the 20-time English league champions have their eyes on Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

Lots of English sides are in the fray, for the midfielder who scored four times while assisting another six in his first season in La Liga.

“TBR Football understand Newcastle and Everton could make a late attempt to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

“The England international is a popular man as we approach the transfer deadline on Monday, with as many as six Premier League clubs monitoring his situation in the final week of the window.

Conor Gallagher an unlikely option

“We understand West Ham are also interested in Gallagher as Graham Potter desperately searches for a new central midfielder. Crystal Palace are also keen.

“TBR Football understand Manchester United are also considering Gallagher, after deciding against an expensive move for Carlos Baleba this summer.

“Should Tottenham sell Yves Bissouma, the 25-year-old is an option for Spurs too, who have admired the Chelsea academy graduate for a number of years.”

The 25-year-old is Premier League-proven, having played for both Chelsea and Crystal Palace. He won the Europa League while playing for the Blues while also scooping up the Palace Player of the Year award during his loan stint at Selhurst Park.

The Epsom-born star can play all across the midfield, and can even do a job out wide, but is he the right man for the job? Firstly, he is not a defensive midfielder, while passing and progressive carries are not his forte as per Fbref.

There has been no mention of the costs involved, but his market value stands at €40 million as per Transfermarkt, and considering he still has four years left on his current deal, he is likely to fetch more. United could certainly do with better.
